“Blood Done Sign My Name is an epic story about empowerment and the struggle for social justice at a time where people were judged solely on the colour of their skin.
This movie takes us back to that time, 1970 to be exact, and recreates the circumstances surrounding the small-town murder of Henry “Dickie” Marrow, a 23 year old black Vietnam veteran who was shot and beaten to death by one of Oxford’s prominent white businessman and his two grown sons. In response to the crime, and the shame trial that followed, many young African American men took to the streets, engaging in riots and vandalism. However, school teacher and burgeoning activist Ben Chavis, decided that the best way to protest the injustice was to organize a peaceful march on the state capital. What began as a small group of outraged friends and relatives, grew to a crowd of thousands over the three day, fifty-mile trek to Raleigh.”
This movie features an incredible cast which includes One Tree Hill’s own Lee Norris, Cullen Moss andMichael May.
Playing in selected theatres throughout the US on February 19th so be sure to check the listing located on the official website and support this amazing movie.

Shantel VanSanten ended the last decade with quite a bang; she starred in the blockbuster hit The Final Destination, and landed a permanent role on the CW’s hit drama, One Tree Hill. Yet the beautiful 24 year-old clearly hasn’t led her instant success get to her head. Interviewing VanSanten one can easily forget they’re working and not just having an interesting conversation with the kind and funny Texas native. It was clear to see during our chat not only is VanSanten dedicated to her craft, she is also dedicated to being someone young women everywhere can relate to; and those two qualities will lead people to talk about Shantel VanSanten for a very long time.
What was your background before acting?
Shantel-I was a model. That was before I discovered how awesome hamburgers were!(laughs) I modeled from the time I was 15 until I was 20. When I moved out to LA I kind of stopped. That whole world is way more toxic than they need it to be in Los Angeles. But when I lived in Texas it’s you know what kept me up float ,and kept me in acting classes, and helped. I was really fortunate to be able to model for the time being.
Actors Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols may be stars to the viewers of One Tree Hill, but to them, the real stars are the children of The Art of Elysium organization.
Bush and Nichols stepped out in Beverly Hills Saturday night for the third annual black-tie gala for the non-profit Art of Elysium charity, where the TV duo both emphasized to me the significance of this special organization that encourages Hollywood talent to voluntarily contribute their art to children with serious medical conditions.
“This group of people changed my life”, said Bush. “I’ve always thought that kids were so amazing, their spirit is undeniably magical. But to be able to be in a group of people like this, to be able to give your time, to be able to share your art, …bring joy back to people, particularly young people who’ve been through something unfortunate..” , said the 27-year-old beauty.
