Where is everyone going? That was the question that was on the minds of ‘One Tree Hill‘ viewers Monday night as the majority of Tree Hill’s residents decided to say so long for now.
By the end of the hour Nathan, Haley, Jamie, Julian, Mouth, Skills, Clay, and even trouble-maker Alex,(Did I leave anyone out?) all looked like they were making their departures from Tree Hill very soon.
This leaves Brooke, Victoria, Millicent, and Quinn to fulfill the title of the show, ‘One Tree Hill’.
Why you may ask is everyone all of a sudden taking off? Shocking as it may be, the departures are actually reasonable….well, as reasonable as they can be.
Nathan, having recently not been renewed to play in the NBA, will be jetting off to Spain for a year to continue his dream of playing professional basketball. Wife Haley will take off on tour to promote the next great Haley James record. Little Jamie will tag along with her, who did not look like he was too thrilled at the thought of leaving Tree Hill. Can we really blame him?
Julian was literally ordered to leave Tree Hill for a while and take up another movie project. This order came after more issues rose from his friendship/work-ship, call what you will, with trouble-maker actress Alex Dupre. “He moved there for Brooke….and he finds someone who’s in his world and in that part of the country and it’s nice to collaborate with them because it’s a highly collaborative business…and who knows when the next opportunity will lie and he’s like, I’m here with my girlfriend and I can’t go back to Hollywood and I wanna work so this is kind of my opportunity to work and be here”, Austin Nichols said on his character’s reason for not ending his work with Alex, which only led him to problems with Brooke.
From only starting out to assist Alex with her script, Julian ends up divulging a personal secret to her about his desire to have kids after realizing Brooke can’t have them. This of course only further tears Brooke apart, as the fashion designer was already feeling guilty about taking his life in Los Angeles away from him.
“I feel like everybody likes to be liked and wanted. He’s definitely let that sort of survive”, said Nichols on why Monday night’s episode ended the way it did for Brooke and Julian. “He’s been very clear about where his loyalties lie…he hasn’t done anything wrong but he hasn’t told her to stop because at the same time he’s working with her and he wants to continue to develop these projects so it’s kind of a slippery situation”, Nichols said.
It’s a good thing Victoria has revealed her nurturing side towards her daughter as it looks like she will be the one remaining with her during this slippery situation. Must say it was nice to see the former, sometimes still, ice-queen being so supportive of her daughter.
It was also nice to see Victoria attempt to straighten things out with Millicent who upon her new role as the face of Clothes over Bros has begun living the stereotypical model life of drugs and diets. And because of that cliché lifestyle she has chosen to live, Mouth will be joining Skills on his new venture in Los Angeles to work for SportsArc.
And finally it appears as if Tree Hill’s newest romantic duo will be separating as agent-no-more Clay has chosen to leave his beach front condo despite the heartfelt plea made by Quinn to him, who at the conclusion of the episode looked as if she was attempting to save his career. Will she? We shall see next week!
Something else we will find out next week will be whether Alex will survive or not as the final scene of the night left her lay bleeding in a bathtub.
And as for Dan and Rachel? Well, who really knows what’s going on in the minds of those two!
The most important part of what seemed like a farewell episode? Jamie saying he’s never going to leave Tree Hill.
Oh if only your elders would listen to you little one.
